CLUB NEWSLETTER - 29th January 2016
Waikuku compIt was fantastic to see so many athletes, parents and supporters on the beach for this comp. Let's hope the weather is much better for the SRC on the 20th and 21st.
ERC'sThis senior event is being run at Mt Maunganui Saturday 30th & Sunday 31st January and is being attended by Dave, Grace and Millie - we wish you all the best.
K DayAlso a senior event being held at Taylors Mistake on Waitangi Day (Saturday 6th February) to commemorate their centenary. We have entered 2 teams for this event.
Junior Twilight SeriesThese races begin on Tuesday 9th , 16th , 23rd February. This is open to all athletes who are participating in week night surf coaching. As soon as we have details on location and times from Surf NZ we will let you know.
Southern Regional Junior ChampsSaturday 20th and Sunday 21th February. This is a great warm up competition to the Junior Nationals (Oceans 16) and will be held at New Brighton beach. Further details of timings and age groups will be advised closer to the date.
Southern Regional ChampsSaturday 27th and Sunday 28th February. This is a great warm up competition to the Sand Nationals (senior athlete nationals) and will be held at New Brighton beach. If you wish to compete please let Dave know. Further details of timings and age groups will be advised closer to the date.
Oceans 16This is the Nationals for our junior athletes and is being held at Mt Maunganui from March 3rd to 6th. There is a very strong team going from our club.
Canterbury ChampsThis is last Junior carnival for our season. These will be held the weekend of 12th March. Please keep both Saturday and Sunday available as the competition events have not yet been confirmed for each day. It may be the event only runs on the Saturday.
Sand NationalsThis is the Senior surf event to close the season. This year being held at Ohope beach, Whakatane from 17 - 20th March. Seniors please keep in touch with Dave regarding your training towards this.
IRB NationalsAnd this is the final National event to bring the season to a close. Being held at Papamoa Beach from 2nd - 3rd April 2016. Good luck to our IRB crews who are attending.
TrainingRemember to check the club web site for the training schedule. This gets updated every Friday.
Last club dayThis brings our season to a close and to celebrate we will have a wind down with a bit of fun in the surf and on the sand. This will be on Sunday 20th March 2016 at 10am
AccountsOur Club treasurer advises that all accounts for members have been sent out. We would appreciate prompt payment. If you have received an invoice for something you did not get or you think there is an error, please notify the treasurer without delay, so we can correct our accounts.
Swimming CapsThe Spencer Park silicone swimming caps are here and Kaylene will take them on Wednesdays and Sundays. $11 each.
Spirit of AdventurePlease let me introduce myself - My name is Julia Bryant and I have the task of filling berths on The Spirit of New Zealand. We are currently in a sticky situation and I am reaching out to any/all avenues to see if you might know of someone who might be interested and fit the criteria (16 -18year olds).

Traffic going to Club RoomsWe have had a complaint about cars going the wrong way when leaving the club rooms. We remind you that the road to the club is one way and when you leave, you must turn left and follow the road the long way around to get out.
